PARIS (Scrap Register): Waste management group Veolia has seen a spectacular jump in revenue from plastics recycling, according to its first half year results.

The company says the growth of new businesses has been ‘very strong’ with those involving plastic recycling up 30% and hazardous waste up 13%. Revenue from plastics recycling will bring in EUR 400-450 million this year, up from just EUR 50 million a few years ago, and could hit EUR 1 billion by 2025, the group said.

‘Veolia has achieved strong revenue growth in all of its geographies, evidence of the pertinence and coherence of our choices and of our capacity to capture the best opportunities for profitable growth,’ says company chairman and ceo Antoine Frérot.

‘These strong first half results allow us to confirm all our objectives for the full year and to prepare our new 2020-2023 strategic plan,’ he adds.
