ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkey's scrap imports fell by 11.2% during January to September period this year to 14 million tonnes, according to latest data released by the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD).
In value terms, imports declined 20.6% year-on-year during the period to $4.4 billion.
In the given period, Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries fell by 8.1% to 8.9 million tonnes. Scrap imports from the US declined by 3.6% to 2.7 million tonnes, while its scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 1.6 million tonnes, down 22% year-on-year.
In the same period, the share of the EU in Turkey's total scrap imports was 63%, the share of US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 19%, while CIS countries' share was 11%.
